Position Overview
Skypoint is seeking a highly consultative and technically rigorous Forward Deployed Analytics Engineer (FDAE) to lead customer implementations within our healthcare vertical.
This is a customer-embedded, outcome-oriented role. The FDAE partners directly with senior living and provider group organizations to design scalable semantic models, deploy executive-ready analytics, and — critically — ensure those insights are activated to drive measurable business outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines:
- Deep Power BI expertise (star schema + advanced DAX)
- Strong dimensional modeling discipline
- Executive-level communication skills
- A passion for understanding healthcare business mechanics
- A clear understanding of how data must translate into operational action
This is not a report-building role. It is a business-impact role.
What This Role Is Responsible For
- Embedding with customers to understand operational and financial drivers
- Designing scalable semantic data models
- Leading full-cycle analytics implementations
- Standardizing KPIs and governance
- Ensuring analytics outputs drive real operational change
- Connecting insights to measurable financial and performance outcomes
Core Responsibilities
1. Customer Immersion & Business Understanding
- Lead structured discovery sessions with executive and operational stakeholders.
- Develop deep fluency in:
-
- Occupancy and census management
- Labor cost optimization
- Acuity and care mix
- Reimbursement and payer mix
- Provider productivity
- Margin performance
- Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical models.
- Identify where visibility gaps are preventing performance improvement.
2. Semantic Modeling & Analytics Engineering
- Architect scalable star schema semantic models aligned to dimensional modeling best practices.
- Define fact table grain and conformed dimensions with clarity and discipline.
- Develop enterprise Power BI datasets designed for reuse and governance.
- Author advanced DAX measures including:
-
- Complex CALCULATE logic
- Time intelligence
- Context transition
- KPI standardization
- Scenario modeling patterns
- Optimize model performance and maintainability.
- Implement row-level security where required.
3. Implementation Leadership
- Own the full customer implementation lifecycle.
- Drive requirements definition, phased delivery, and stakeholder alignment.
- Present deliverables to executive and operational audiences.
- Ensure adoption through training, structured rollout, and change enablement.
4. Data Activation & Outcome Ownership
This role must go beyond analytics delivery and focus on activation:
- Identify how insights should translate into operational workflows.
- Work with customer stakeholders to define action plans tied to KPIs.
- Ensure dashboards are decision-enabling, not just informative.
- Connect metrics to financial impact (e.g., EBITDA, labor margin, occupancy stabilization).
- Drive discussions around “What action should this metric trigger?”
- Establish feedback loops to measure whether analytics are driving measurable improvement.
The Forward Deployed Analytics Engineer is accountable not just for delivering analytics — but for ensuring those analytics influence behavior and performance.
Required Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- 5+ years of Power BI development experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
-
- Star schema design
- Dimensional modeling (Kimball methodology)
- Fact/dimension architecture
- Power BI performance optimization
- Advanced DAX proficiency.
- Strong SQL foundation.
- Experience designing reusable semantic layers (not report-only builds).
Customer & Implementation Leadership
- Experience leading customer-facing analytics implementations.
- Exceptional communication skills across executive and technical audiences.
- Strong workshop facilitation skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous environments.
- Clear understanding of how analytics drive operational behavior change.

Experience in:
- Senior Living (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care)
- Skilled Nursing

- Multi-site healthcare operations
- Labor and occupancy analytics
- Reimbursement and financial performance reporting
A genuine interest in healthcare economics and operational transformation is essential.
Success Profile
The ideal candidate:
- Loves working directly with customers.
- Seeks to understand how a business actually runs before building solutions.
- Thinks in terms of outcomes, not just outputs.
- Designs semantic models that scale.
- Asks, “What action should this insight drive?”
- Takes ownership of measurable performance improvement.
