Position Overview

We’re looking for a Chief of Staff & Biz Ops Lead who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to have a meaningful impact on AI Safety. This is a hybrid strategic operator + business leader role at the center of the company.

As our first hire on the Finance team, you’ll report directly to the VP of Finance & People Operations while working closely with the CEO and executive team. You’ll own planning, financial reporting, and analysis — and serve as a force multiplier for leadership by driving cross-functional initiatives, preparing for board meetings, and supporting company-level strategic execution.

You will play a critical role in preparing the company for its Series B raise, leading financial modeling, investor materials, and data room management. Beyond finance and operations, you’ll operate as a Chief of Staff: helping translate strategy into execution, increasing organizational clarity, and ensuring leadership priorities move forward with discipline and velocity.

 

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role with a fast-track opportunity for growth as the company continues to expand.

What You’ll Accomplish

In your first 3 months, you’ll…

Financial Leadership

  • Prepare and maintain budgets & forecasts across revenue, headcount, and opex plans, keeping data accurate, up-to-date, and board-ready
  • Help teams build realistic budgets that support growth while championing operational discipline
  • Partner with fractional accountants to support monthly close, accruals, and budget vs. actuals analysis
  • Support Series B fundraising preparation including investor-ready financial materials, scenario modeling, KPI reporting, and data room documentation

Chief of Staff Impact

  • Support CEO and VP Finance in preparing board decks, investor updates, and leadership materials
  • Improve executive meeting rhythms (weekly exec, quarterly planning, annual strategy) by building structured agendas and follow-ups
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and drive cross-functional alignment on high-priority initiatives

In your first 6 months, you’ll…

Strategic Finance & Fundraising

  • Take full ownership of the company financial model, incorporating sales pipeline, pricing, packaging, margin, and hiring assumptions
  • Track and analyze KPIs & unit economics to inform decisions and proactively identify risks and opportunities
  • Lead data room buildout and ensure investor diligence materials are complete, accurate, and compelling
  • Develop executive dashboards and expand internal BI reporting capabilities

Chief of Staff & Strategic Execution

  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, turning high-level strategy into clear operating plans
  • Own quarterly and annual planning processes, ensuring alignment across Product, Clinical, and GTM teams
  • Lead or coordinate special projects tied to growth, operational efficiency, partnerships, or new initiatives
  • Increase accountability across leadership by tracking goals, OKRs, and cross-functional commitments
  • Serve as connective tissue across departments, ensuring communication, clarity, and execution velocity

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You…

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • Have 3–6 years of experience in FP&A, strategy, consulting, investment banking, startup operations, or high-growth tech environments
  • Are comfortable operating as both a strategic thought partner and a hands-on builder
  • Know how to build complex models from scratch that are easy to understand and explain to non-finance audiences
  • Have strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives
  • Thrive in ambiguity and enjoy building structure where it doesn’t yet exist
  • Possess exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills — you dig into the “why” behind the numbers
  • Communicate with clarity, confidence, and empathy across all levels of the organization
  • Take ownership, move with urgency, and care deeply about outcomes
  • Are energized by working directly with senior leadership on high-stakes initiatives

About the Team

 

You’ll work closely with:

 

VP Finance & People Ops (Direct Manager)
They’ll coach you on strategic finance, help you deepen business partnership skills, and create opportunities to present to leadership and the board. They bring deep operational experience scaling startups and will invest in your growth toward senior finance, strategy, or executive leadership roles.

 

CEO & Co-Founders
You’ll support strategic planning, board preparation, investor communications, and company-wide execution. This role will give you exposure to fundraising strategy, capital markets, and executive decision-making at the highest level.

 

Cross-Functional Leaders (Product, Clinical, GTM, Ops)
You’ll partner closely with leaders to model business scenarios, support pricing and packaging decisions, inform hiring plans, and ensure alignment on company priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $110–125k
