ESS is seeking a dynamic Product Management/Product Strategy Leader to support our next-generation Energy Storage Solutions. This role is critical to the success of the organization and is expected to have an immediate impact on ESS’ product portfolio. The position requires an individual with a deep understanding of the battery storage market, demonstrated engineering or technical expertise, and the ability to lead a product management organization within a publicly listed company. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategic vision for ESS’s products, including build/buy/partner strategies and execution.
  • Create and maintain company-wide product roadmaps and project prioritization.
  • Lead ESS’s product management organization and position the product and company for rapid growth in the long-duration energy storage market.
  • Work closely across the senior leadership team and C-suite to ensure product and company goals are synchronized in a dynamic market segment. 
  • Transfer market experience into strategic direction and alignment across the organization by clearly identifying target markets and use cases to enable company-wide success.
  • Utilize technical expertise to provide direct input to engineering as they build an industry-leading product that meets identified market needs.
  • Create an industry-wide knowledge base to access third-party individuals and organizations that can enhance in-house capabilities.
  • Maintain pricing for ESS’s products in collaboration with the executive team.
  • In concert with program management, drive successful programs through ensuring organizational alignment and definition of relevant, meaningful product requirements.
  • Plan and lead execution of product and solution launches
  • Become a trusted partner of other internal teams, including engineering, finance, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure organizational product alignment and cross-company communications. 
  • Collaborate and define relationships with key 3rd party partnerships to ensure ESS’s customers receive a solution that meets their needs.

Proficiencies, Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in one or more senior product management roles (Sr. Director, VP or higher) of an energy storage technology.
  • Measurable success working in a high-growth, emerging technology organization.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a strong ownership mentality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and influence positively a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) in the battery or energy storage markets, providing a multi-faceted perspective from customers, partners, and installations. 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience with new product development (NPD) and new product introduction (NPI).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management or similar fields.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time to international and domestic locations as needed per project.
