We are ramping up our production and have ambitious delivery plans for the future. We are looking for a motivated and versatile Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in a fast paced, results focused purchasing environment.  Our current program scope involves the design, development, installation, evaluation, and documentation of large-scale battery systems.

What you’ll do at ESS:

  • Support engineering and other support groups with timely purchase order placements, ensuring Purchase Requisition to Purchase order is completed within defined deadlines.
  • Ensure supplier delivery schedules support manufacturing needs with >90% on time delivery.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics, hold supply base accountable.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues with finance and/or quality.
  • Work closely with Engineering to support NPI projects with timely sourcing and delivering of solutions from the supply base.

What you bring to the table

Minimum requirements:

  • Five or more years of Purchasing/Procurement experience in a NPI and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with inventory and MRO procurement (including services and indirect materials).
  • Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Project management skills.

We’d love to see:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or similar field is preferred, but not required.
  • APICS or related purchasing industry certifications.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization/mining tools.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protection Equipment according to OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Experience with machined and molded plastics, various metals, fabrication, and contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of ISO a plus.
  • Travel to local suppliers as needed.
