Chronicled has established the decentralized MediLedger Network, which connects the pharmaceutical industry and runs mission critical processes. You will be working on the software that connects to and runs the Network. You will be building a cutting-edge platform using the latest technological achievements at the intersection of blockchain, cryptography, distributed computing and network protocols.
The opportunity
As VP of Engineering you will own the development of products that support mission critical functions of the business of Fortune100 customers. You will lead a highly talented engineering team to build a decentralized, enterprise grade solution based on microservices and blockchain technologies.
Your team works with modern technologies – including Scala, TypeScript, Rust, Postgres, RabbitMQ, Substrate, GraphQL, React – to build microservices that interact within an event-driven architecture and are orchestrated with Kubernetes.

What you'll do:

    • Recruit, inspire, coach and develop a high performing team
    • Build a high-performance culture that rewards results, and is optimized for retention and productivity.
    • Articulate a technology strategy that allows engineers to make great decisions and balance paying down tech debt, building for scale, and shipping new functionality.
    • Contribute to the product strategy by advising on how to optimize for easy of integration and customization and leading engineering-focused initiatives.
    • Partner with the Customer Success and Support teams to enable them implementing and integrating our products for our customers.
    • Manage at scale: bring to bear the right balance of process and flexibility; measure what matters and drive improvements in quality, velocity, and impact; advise on build vs buy decisions.
    • Own the engineering infrastructure and SaaS budget. Continue building our DevOps competency for efficiency, reliability, scale, and security.
    • Maintain a secure, auditable, and controllable environment.
    • Maintain high-velocity iterations.
    • You will report to the CTO and partner with peers to create the technical roadmap and headcount plan that accelerate the business.

What you'll need:

    • Experience with delivering enterprise-grade software
    • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and microservices-based solutions
    • Demonstrated success with recruiting talented engineers
    • Familiarity with modern technologies and functional programming, such as Scala, Java, TypeScript, Postgres, RabbitMQ, React/Redux and Kubernetes.
    • At least 5 years of experience of managing 30 engineers
    • Have participated in scaling a team from 30 to 100 engineers. 
    • An early career in hands-on software engineering
    • Experience building and launching greenfield product(s)BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
