ESS is hiring an experienced Cost Accountant to support our rapid growth. As the Senior Cost Accountant, you will be a bridge between the company’s accounting, operations, and engineering teams and requires an individual who possesses a sound understanding of cost accounting, attention to detail, and precise organizational skills. The appropriate candidate will be comfortable communicating across the organization and able to influence outcomes by being a proactive team contributor.

What you’ll do at ESS.

  • Work closely with our manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing teams to establish and maintain accurate product costing.
  • Develop and maintain cost standards for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare reports on inventory usage and related operational metrics.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances to understand root causes, propose correcting journal entries (when required), and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform month-end closing activities pertaining to inventory and fixed assets.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of inventory and fixed assets.
  • Work with all functional groups to improve adherence to sound accounting practices.
  • Experienced with MRP software systems.

What you bring to the table.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Understanding of proper accounting practices and US GAAP
  • 5+ years of experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

We’d love to see:

  • Prior experience with complex BOMs.
  • Prior Oracle Fusion experience.
