Product Manager at CrowdStreet
Austin, TX, US

We are a growing community of builders, contributing to the next generation of real estate investing with accessibility, transparency and social responsibility. As we scale, our Product Management team is looking for customer missionaries, and creative/inspiring change agents to help uncover and pioneer the technology's role in transforming the commercial real estate investing industry. As a Product Manager, reporting to the Head of Product, you will lead one of our core pods focused on evolving the product portfolio of core business capabilities for our dual-sided marketplace. Through your leadership, CrowdStreet will deliver the industry-leading, holistic customer experience that inspires, delights and retains investors. Let's build the future of alternative investments for everyone.

Primary Responsibilities

Job success will require exercising lean product development methodologies to minimize waste and maximize team outcomes and investing in partnerships with Design, Engineering, Data, QA, Legal, Marketing and Marketplace Services.

  • Vision & strategic contributor. Collaborate on establishing a clear product roadmap for evolving our core business capabilities portfolio through collaboration with your product leaders and peers, pod, and partners.
  • Roadmap execution. Realize the product vision through detail-oriented execution on the roadmap, convincing prioritization, and strategic project planning — breaking down big ideas into tactical, sequential release milestones.
  • Product sense and craftsmanship. Show the attention to detail that the product and customers deserve.
  • Domain ownership and expertise. You don't just act as a mercenary on getting specific answers as requested, you come up with all the questions to all the answers that people didn't even know they needed to have.
  • Keep things moving. Build consensus by default but can drive hard decisions when needed. You push the pace and avoid analysis paralysis.
  • Overcommunicate. Communication of plans, progress, and goals to all partners is in your DNA.
  • Minimize waste. Validate assumptions and attractive ideas to confirm that requirements are viable, desirable and possible.
  • Manage competing priorities. Applying qualitative and quantitative data on the industry and our target customers to convince partners.
  • If you see something, say something. Collaborate shared opportunities with fellow product teams to provide an engaging, end-to-end investor and sponsor experience.
  • Culture. Model a collaborative and constructive culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Experiences You Bring:

  • 2+ years of product management experience, adopting contemporary principles and methodologies (think SVPG) but manifesting and acting upon them with a realistic change management 101 approach
  • Experience being accountable for the P&L of a product team and showing the "receipts" for your work with measurable outcomes and trusted alliances
  • Boundless curiosity when it comes to our customers, products and processes — listening carefully and asking clarifying questions to master use cases
  • Experience developing a process and methodology to ruthlessly translate high-level concepts and incoming requests into clear, tactical action items (with and without the help of your team)
  • Experience making grounded decisions and difficult trade-offs, thoughtfully managing limited resources and team/partner expectations to maximize your team's momentum and outcomes
  • Experience conducting research studies using varying methodologies to assess customer needs, going beyond the textbooks to really pick out what internal and external customers actually need for a healthy value exchange

The Competencies You'll Need:

  • Establish focus really quickly and is comfortable working with unknowns, mitigating risks without compromising quality and momentum
  • Craft a mean user story ticket with thoughtful and clear acceptance criteria second-hand nature
  • Keep from getting stuck during team planning sessions with a bias for pace
  • Proven spider senses to identify potentially costly assumptions and muscle memory of customer validation techniques to test those assumptions (the less code and faster conclusions, the better!)
  • Comfortable with analyzing varying degrees of quantitative and qualitative data to identify clear opportunities
  • Change management mindset to thrive in our company environment and with different personalities
  • Experience managing online B2C FinTech or two-sided marketplace products and solutions
  • Commercial real estate, personal investing, or similar experience appreciated
