Who we are looking for: 

We are seeking a Plumbing SME (Subject Matter Expert) who has extensive experience across residential and multi-family installation with a passion for finding unique solutions to complex problems. They will join our Research & Development (R&D) Team, which is tasked with creating innovative products, technology, and processes for the prefabricated construction industry. 

Each team member will be expected to understand and develop solutions across multiple construction trades and take their designs from initial concept through to manufacturing and implementation. They will be expected to take on roles as both member and leader of a diverse inter-disciplinary team and to work collaboratively across all work channels to deliver on our Mission. 

 

In this position you will: 

  • Primary responsibility is to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the R&D Team 
    • Participate in developing and prototyping prefabricated plumbing solutions for the construction industry 
    • Collaborate on development and optimization of offsite fabrication processes 
    • Perform pilot installations of solutions developed 
    • Collaborate with the team to develop instructions and training programs for solutions 
    • Research both technical and building code requirements for Plumbing integration 
  • Secondary responsibility is to manage our plumbing contractor’s license compliance according to state and federal laws 
    • Manage permits and inspections of pilot projects and select internal projects 
    • Create training programs and mentor plumbers on field install teams
  • Additional responsibilities: 
    • Work with interdisciplinary teams and multiple trades toward integrated product solutions (e.g., framers, HVAC, electricians) 
    • Collaborate with the R&D Team in review and revision of 3D CAD models, drawings, and assembly instructions of your designs 
    • Take ownership of your work from start to finish 
    • Work with manufacturing to implement factory production processes and automation 
    • Collaborate with the team toward process and product improvement 
    • Work outside of primary responsibilities as needed

 

What you bring to the table: 

  • Possess a valid Journey Level License (PL01) in the State of Washington 
  • Be an open minded and innovative thinker that seeks ways to reshape the building industry, improve means and methods 
  • Comfortable with change and uncertainty  
  • Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills with attention to detail  
  • Good communication skills and an openness to working on personal development with the team 
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, and as a leader within a diverse team 
  • Understanding of the jurisdictional inspection process and ability to successfully pass inspections 
  • Must have excellent scientific and mechanical aptitude 
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics 
  • Strong strategic thinking and organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Ability to create project schedules while maintaining deadlines across multiple projects 
  • Understanding of health and safety practices in residential & multi-family construction required 
  • This position may involve frequent and repetitive movement, including moving materials up to 50 pounds.  

 

Great to have: 

  • In-depth experience in the building or construction industries (structural, electrical, and mechanical experience preferred) 
  • Experience interfacing with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories to enable regulatory, environmental and product validation objectives 
  • Broad knowledge of materials and innovative manufacturing methodologies 

 

Position and hours: 

  • This is an exempt, full-time position, typically working Monday through Friday. Some hours outside of normal business hours will be required at times.  
  • Seattle is the primary location for our office and research & development shop. Remote work will be strongly considered on a case-by-case basis. Expected requirements for remote work will include travel to Seattle and other locations for in person team collaboration and prototype design work to meet project deadlines. 

 

Compensation and benefits: 

  • Starting annual salary between $90,000 - $110,000 annually 
  • Starting annual PTO of 120 hours per year
