ESS is seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Operations leader with a strong background in contract manufacturing & assembly. The role includes development, implementation, and management of for its advanced battery technology. The successful candidate will have excellent project management skills and an ability to manage multiple projects effortlessly. Candidates with knowledge of large and complex industrial products, containerized manufacturing & transport are highly desired. Experience in battery, fuel cell technologies or power generation systems are helpful.

Someone who understands the culture, the rigor, and the challenges of a start-up environment.

 

What you’ll do at ESS: 

  • Design, implement and execute greenfield manufacturing and assembly facility.
  • Implement and update manufacturing and operational strategies. 
  • Establish and manage ERP system.
  • Establish and manage safe and efficient facilities.
  • Coordinate manufacturing for on-schedule delivery of multi-million-dollar installations. 
  • Work with engineering and sales teams to manage manufacturing-related operational challenges. 
  • Provide critical input to resolve operational problems related to logistics, manufacturing, and fabrication. 
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Successful operation of the production facility including daily, weekly, and monthly plans as well as capital and operating budgets. 
  • Monitor, address and report daily production and quality metrics.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures that meet and exceed safety requirements. 
  • Participate with management and sales on creating the annual plant budget and operating plan.
  • Responsible for oversight of the recruitment and training/retraining of personnel to ensure compliance to SOPs. Provide mentoring, coaching.

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to deliver on multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Must have an in-depth understanding and application of quality principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, collaborative work environment. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, affable, and demonstrated maturity and professionalism. 
  • Must be a strong problem solver with the ability to think logically and rationally. 
  • High work ethic and strong attention to details.
  • Able to work in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team environment.
  • Ability to build and develop effective, high-performance operating teams.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team responsible for product development.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing start-up implementation.
  • In battery, fuel cell or power-gen systems is helpful.
  • With production scheduling, contract manufacturing and vendor relationship. 
  • Commercializing new technologies in a production environment is preferred. 
  • With financial management of a production facility including budget, expense management, and investment/return analysis.
  • Interacting with Lab and Engineering operations.

Education

  • BS Engineering in a related discipline.
  • 15 years’ experience in a manufacturing, assembly and logistics/supply chain leadership role. 
  • 4 years of which is in executive management.
