ESS is hiring an experienced Direct Materials Procurement Manager to join our Supply Chain team to support expansion of our supply base and execution of an aggressive production ramp.

What you’ll do at ESS.

The Direct Materials Procurement Manager is responsible for leading procurement efforts to effectively support our production ramp and maximize the value of our supply chain partners.

  • Lead all direct material procurement activity to support production activities at our Wilsonville, Oregon facility and other sites as we expand.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality team to gather all relevant supplier requirements, deliverables, and imperatives to meet program level deliverables (scope, timing, cost).
  • Manage ECOs and NPI activities with supply base; coordinating supplier deliverables and transition strategies to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Identify new sources, drive commercial RFPs, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost down objectives.
  • Develops, executes, and maintains a global supplier strategy with emphasis on quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Partners with IT and Finance to develop ERP tools and processes to optimize transactional flows for procurement of goods and services.
  • Mentors and grows a small team of procurement professionals to consistently demonstrate effective communication, project management, cooperation, and critical thinking.

What you bring to the table.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline (System, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Mechatronics, etc.) and / or Purchasing / Supply Chain Management preferred. Experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Deep experience in industrial purchasing / sourcing
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing change and ensuring production needs are met
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct procurement staff
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in procurement / supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability to manage effectively in high-growth, dynamic environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; ability to identify roadblocks and develop work arounds and solutions to keep team moving forward
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Certifications as a Procurement/Supply Chain professional a plus
