Role Summary:

The Capital Markets Associate (“CMA”) position is a hybrid role whereby the individual is responsible for both business development and technical financial analysis of real estate investment opportunities. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise and passion in sales and commercial real estate (“CRE”) to help CrowdStreet grow to the next level. This is a front line business development position helping to educate executive leadership of the nation's biggest and best CRE owners, operators, and developers (aka “sponsors”) about the benefits of online syndication. As a CMA, you will be responsible for prospecting, educating, and sourcing deals from new and existing sponsors in your designated territory. You will also evaluate the sponsor and deals' suitability for CrowdStreet, and contribute to managing the relationship as the sponsor moves through the application and deal screening process. Finally, you will help grow the business by working cross-functionally with other teams at CrowdStreet on strategic projects. As a key member of the Capital Markets team, you will be teamed up with the regional Managing Directors (“MD”) to grow our sponsor customer base.

  • Prospecting and securing meetings with sponsors that meet our ideal customer profile
  • Create new sales opportunities from the sponsors that you sourced
  • Revenue generation as a result of the above two KPIs

The Experiences That Will Help You Succeed:

  • Generate new business by utilizing your advanced knowledge of private equity real estate and capital markets with the goal of compelling new sponsors to raise capital via CrowdStreet
  • Continuous prospecting, communicating, and educating our target sponsors toward the benefits of online syndication and CrowdStreet in particular. 
  • Build and refine sponsor account based sales lists based on our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
  • Utilize Salesforce and Hubspot for sales automation and opportunity tracking
  • Set meetings with sponsors for yourself and your MD, attend meetings virtually and in-person, and support your MD by following a proven sales process to win business
  • Create new opportunities to fill the top of the sales funnel, then support the sales process
  • Perform analysis and due diligence of deals that enter CrowdStreet's pipeline to determine fit with investor base and CrowdStreet's Investment Committee.
  • Orchestrate the collection and processing of Sponsor applications and deal related information as part of the deal screening process, present that information to MD for further qualification prior to MD’s submission to the investment committee
  • Expand relationships with current and prospective sponsors so that CrowdStreeet becomes their preferred capital source for equity for all future deal flow
  • Partner with the MD to create quarterly strategies/execution plans to hit sales quota goals  
  • Maintain current knowledge of real estate industry market conditions and trends that impact investment analysis and valuation particular to your region and/or asset classes
  • Cultivate relationships with regional brokers to generate deal sourcing partnerships
  • Represent CrowdStreet at regional and national conferences and industry events
  • Collaborate with other teams (Product, Investor Relations, Project Management, Investments, etc) on projects that improve the CrowdStreet platform at the enterprise level.
  • This position reports directly to the VP Capital Markets with a dotted line to Managing Directors

The Competencies You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business or related field
  • 4+ years of investment sales, acquisition, analyst, or account management experience in the CRE capital markets industry, with a specific focus on CRE analysis and investment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written, and verbal
  • History of consistently meeting sales quota goals, or related targets along with a history of making cold outreach to prospective clients with no existing relationship
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work in a cross-functional organization
  • Experience with sales automation tools (i.e. Salesforce and Hubspot)
