Engineer, Open Source at Auth0
United States of America
The SDK team at Auth0 owns the open-source libraries that provide platform integration with our Authentication and Management APIs. As a member of the team, you will work on changes related to security, performance, developer experience, and documentation to ensure a frictionless integration experience for both new and potential customers. In the process, you will gain a great understanding about how identity works while learning more about authentication, authorization, OAuth, OpenId, and the Auth0 product as a whole.
The vast majority of the work we do - feature implementation, bug fixes, code quality, documentation - is done in public, open-source repositories. As such, most of your day-to-day output - pull requests, code reviews, documentation - is associated to your GitHub profile. And, since we serve a community of developers, we’re always challenged with writing the most clear, tested, and documented code we can.
In addition to serving our external customers, we also work closely with other Auth0 teams to help resolve tickets, assist with integrations, and make our core product even better through internal issue reporting. Since our work is often the first thing a potential customer might see (anyone can sign up for and use Auth0 immediately), our team gets a lot of exposure, both inside and outside of Auth0.

You will:

    • Create, maintain, and improve our open-source libraries while engaging a community of developers of all skill levels.
    • Collaborate with other Auth0 teams to implement new features and improvements that handle both current and future business needs.
    • Write clear, concise, and engaging documentation and code samples.
    • Focus on creating an excellent customer experience for both high-value Enterprise customers and single-person startups.
    • Collaborate with our support team as the last level of escalation for tickets.

You might be a good fit for this role if you:

      • Have experience creating and working with public APIs.
      • Are passionate about working on open-source projects and helping others.
      • Always strive to learn and are interested in multiple platforms.
      • Are a good communicator and enjoy interacting with people, both “in person” (typically video calls) and offline.
      • Love crafting clear, concise, and focused pull requests.
      • Enjoy being part of a highly collaborative, remote-first environment.
      • Have good experience using JavaScript (in browser or Node.js) and another platform such as Python, Ruby, or .NET
