Position Summary

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to lead work on an educational software platform that delights our users in margin-enhancing, hard-to-copy ways.

You’ll lead nearly all aspects of the core Lumen software platform that empowers faculty to use open educational resources (OER) in practical ways that increase student success for all students regardless of socioeconomic background. You’ll immerse yourself to understand the market problems, and you’ll work with the design and development teams to create solutions to those problems. You’ll also work with the marketing and adoption teams on go-to-market strategy and execution. And you’ll work with the employees and user community who curate, create, teach with, and improve OER courses.

What you’ll be responsible for

Understand our customers and users to drive product design and development
Plan the feature set for a novel platform that supports innovative learning design, advances Lumen’s mission, and delights users
Lead and motivate the work of an uncommonly talented and passionate team of designers and developers
Collaborate with other product managers and product owners to ensure that the various elements of the Lumen platform and course titles come together with a fantastic user experience and mission impact
Work with marketing to create demand for a successful SaaS business
Learn and educate others about competitive products
Help customers (including internal customers) succeed in their use of the Lumen platform

The experience and technical requirements you need

You’ve worked on multiple SaaS solutions
You’ve used agile methodologies and have ideas on how you’d improve them
If you have some of these too we’ll be delighted

You have experience with the Higher Education community
You’re an experienced presenter who’s comfortable on a stage
You’ve been a leader in both start-ups and larger companies
Other requirements

You’ll have the opportunity to travel. There will be a few key events throughout the year, and opportunities to visit customers as well. The travel requirement could be up to 25%.
You’ll need to work in our Portland, OR office.
