Embedded Software Engineer at Moovel Transit

The Job:

moovel North America is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our research and development team. This position is hands on and you will be working with Product Managers, Designers, Developers and QA to deliver world-class products to transit agencies across North America. A strong candidate should feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment and wearing many hats. This position will be based at the Company’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

What You'll Be Doing:

Design and implement software for embedded devices and systems for the transit
Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
Participate in design and code reviews
Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
Integrate and validate new product designs
Support test engineering through the product lifecycle
Provide post production support
Assess third party and open source software
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
Work on a high functioning, fast paced team with ability to pivot dependent on market/technology demands
Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience:

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
5+ years of development experience with embedded operating systems
In-depth experience with embedded Linux, Buildroot, and other cross-compilation tool chains
Experience with Windows Embedded (WinCE 6.0 - Win IoT) and Embedded Android is a plus
Strong C, C++ coding knowledge
Proven experience troubleshooting and debugging complex system issues
Knowledge of embedded communication network protocols such as I2C, RS-485, RS-232, CAN
Knowledge of internet protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, WebSockets, RESTful APIs)
Working knowledge of the general mobile (Android and iOS) and embedded architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as SCRUM and KANBAN and embedded system development life cycles
Experience with BLE, WiFi, NFC, and barcode technologies
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal skills
