Network Operations Engineer at Bigleaf Networks
Beaverton, OR, US
Position Summary
Network Operations: Our customers purchase our service to improve their network reliability and performance. In this role you’ll work hard to make sure that their service operates without interruption, and is always optimized. This can involve configuring routers and switches, updating routing entries, troubleshooting packet loss, improving internet peering, and other network operations tasks.
Customer Service: Your #1 goal will be to take outstanding care of our customers. Whether that’s through troubleshooting global internet routing issues, providing tech support, helping them with a billing issue, or planning network capacity upgrades, it will be for them.
Device and Service Provisioning: Our platform consists of custom software that runs on network hardware, both in data centers and at the customer premise. You’ll help with installing operating systems and provisioning software on those hardware elements. Much of this process is automated, but you’ll need to pay good attention to detail and be able to work extensively with Linux. We use Puppet, Ansible, and several other tools for automation.
Software Engineering: Since we work so heavily with software this is a great role to grow your coding skills. You’ll have the opportunity to write python and shell scripts, commit code and deploy to our live systems, and work on a software-driven network.
