Position Summary:

As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing software quality through automated and manual testing as well as suggesting solutions to identified quality problems. A successful candidate should have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and be passionate about quality. You must be highly committed to ensuring the quality and reliability our users expect from their smart home is consistently being met.


    Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
    Work with internal teams (e.g. developers, design, product managers) to identify system requirements and required test data.
    Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
    Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open source tools.
    Identify, record, prioritize, and track defects.
    Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases.
    Perform thorough regression testing prior to production releases.
    Perform smoke testing and confirm system stability after production releases.
    Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts.
    Participates in the analysis, development, and documentation of new or revised QA procedures and processes.
    Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.

Requirements / Skills:

    Experience with both black box and white box testing.
    Some experience with hardware testing and troubleshooting is preferred.
    Experience with mobile application testing.
    Familiar with UNIX terminal / command line, SQL, and Git
    Familiar with REST APIs and have used tools such as Postman for making API calls.
    Knowledge with inspecting network traffic and using tools such as Charles Proxy for mobile traffic.
    Some Experience with E2E automation tools (Cypress, Mocha/Jasmine, Espresso, XC UI Test, Appium, Selenium, etc).
    Familiar with writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
    Skilled at finding and logging detailed defects that are clearly written and include reproduction steps.
    Familiar with Agile/Scrum/Kanban development processes.
    Some experience testing integrations with outside vendors is preferred.
    Some experience developing automation frameworks and/or test suites for a variety of platforms is a plus.
    Some experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.
