About the Role

We are looking for an executive-level sales professional reporting to the CEO who would like to leverage their expertise and passion in commercial real estate capital markets and enterprise sales to help our organization scale to the next level. As VP of Sales, you will lead relationship development with the top commercial real estate owners, operators and developers (“Sponsors”) in the U.S. The VP of Sales is responsible for business development activities focused on growing our customer base of ‘best in class’ CRE Sponsors who bring their qualified offerings (deals) to the CrowdStreet Marketplace. The candidate must be a self-motivated team member willing to work in a close-knit and fast paced environment that promotes the exchange of information between him or her and other members. The VP of Sales will be highly focused on developing a consistent, measurable sales process, and optimizing a team of CRE sales professionals who can consistently originate quality deal flow to ensure ample supply of offerings on the CrowdStreet Marketplace. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop a clear vision and strategy for all new customer acquisition activities. Focus on expansion of business with new and existing Sponsor customers. 

  • Daily leadership of the entire sales organization, including inside sales, software sales and outside sales, and ownership of achieving the company’s quarterly revenue projections. On-going training is a key success skill at CrowdStreet given the dynamic nature of the market space and our need to have a highly educated and compelling sales team.

  • Work closely with our Sales Operations Manager to systematically use data analytics to continually identify and refine our data-driven sales process. Create detailed lists of target customers and direct the sales team with all sales efforts. KPI creation, monitoring and reporting, and adjusting efforts according to what’s working best. Report on KPI’s to the company, CEO and Board of Directors.

  • Establish repeatable sales processes to reduce sales cycle while increasing win rate. Oversee, manage, and develop the national sales team responsible for prospecting and acquiring new Sponsors to join our Marketplace.

  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecast and manage sales performance accordingly in

  • Assess the buyer’s journey and sales processes across the landscape of people, process and systems, identify gaps and opportunities in all areas and implement solutions to close those gaps.

  • Help advance Sponsor’s understanding of the Crowdstreet Marketplace value proposition such that CrowdStreet secures growing share of each Sponsor’s equity raise.

  • Help the sales team help Sponsors and their legal counsel to understand the regulatory and compliance considerations when raising capital via online syndication, coordinating with our legal team as necessary to advance a deal. 

  • Assist with final negotiations and redlines of our legal contracts, coordinating with our legal team.

  • Lead the software sales team in order to exceed revenue projections. 

  • Work with VP of Product to improve the product and service for broader market traction.

  • Recruit, hire and train new members of the sales team.  

 What we must have:

  • Built high performing sales teams with a mix of inside and outside - emphasis on outside sales. 

  • 10+ years of experience and a thorough understanding of commercial real estate sales, financing, valuation, acquisitions/dispositions, private equity real estate, capital relationships, and sales team leadership.  Directly applicable CRE capital markets experiences include selling equity placement and capital advisory services into Sponsors.  

  • Managed and, in some cases, developed the critical sales processes including: 1) sales comp plans, 2) sales pipelines (from “lead to cash”) 3) mapping the buyer journey, the sales process, and sales methodology to create a high powered sales organization.

  • Documented experience driving revenue growth to hit key business growth metrics.

  • Detailed understanding of sales strategies at multiple levels including tools and best practices and the ability to negotiate high quality agreements.

  • Comprehensive understanding of business dynamics, sales environments, issues, trends, technical advancements and sales cycles.

  • Exceptional communication skills, evidenced by successful executive level interactions, strong writing and outstanding presentation experience, facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Proven ability to lead through change and transformation with an ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

  • Skilled at coaching the team on how to build new sales opportunities and strategic relationships.

  • Proven ability to manage strategic sales planning and operational discipline with attention to detail and time management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and team to create a results-driven, team-oriented sales culture.

  • High level of personal and professional integrity.

  • Involved in the  hiring and leading managers, specifically sales operations manager

  • Strategically negotiating with enterprise level accounts to close business
