Opal is looking for an Accounting Specialist who will be responsible for the development and maintenance of basic accounting processes and tools to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Specifically, this candidate will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, monthly payroll and general ledger processes that generate the company's income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements in compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish / maintain employee payroll records; ensure changes and calculations are entered correctly and timely.

  • Ensure that employee payroll is processed accurately and timely.

  • Reconcile employee deductions.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations and established procedures.

  • Provide support for fiscal year, statutory, and / or government audits (including 401K and worker’s compensation.

  • Management of corporate cards, including coding expenses, distributing reports, and enforcement of policy.

  • Processing and review of all expense reimbursements.

  • Participate in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, along with supporting the annual audit.

  • Work collaboratively across departments to continuously improve AP/AR & payroll processes for efficiency, scalability and customer experience.

  • Pick up projects and ad-hoc tasks as they arise and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Ideal Candidate has:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing with a strong understanding of general accounting principles

  • Experience in data collection, entry and reporting

  • Attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of HR processes, policies, systems and platforms preferred

  • Collaborative team player; demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and follow through

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • ERP and CRM experience: Netsuite and Salesforce preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred. An additional 5 years experience in lieu of degree
