To support our company’s rapid growth, we are hiring a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) reporting to the CEO to oversee all marketing strategy and activities for the company and level up all marketing efforts to support business growth and drive revenue growth with an entrepreneurial mindset.

In addition to being an integral member of the executive leadership team, you will lead, develop and manage a team of enthusiastic marketing professionals and will direct our marketing efforts towards great success. The qualified candidate will be a hands on, engaged senior leader with a successful track record of building and leading brand, PR, demand generation, product and digital marketing, and content strategy.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define, own and constantly evolve CrowdStreet’s marketing strategy; build and enhance recognition and awareness of the company brand and solutions; craft messaging and positioning that is consistent across the CrowdStreet platform.

  • Collaborate closely with product, sales, and investments executives to identify industry and technology trends, the competitive landscape and corporate core competencies as well as customer and prospect feedback to secure and retain a winning market position.

  • Manage lead generation programs, including top of the funnel list procurement and curation, email marketing, lead qualification and scoring, marketing automation applications, funnel metrics and reporting; achieve quarterly new lead generation objectives. Incorporate effective use of SEO, SEM and website in lead generation programs.

  • Build and execute a marketing communications strategy across public relations, analyst relations and event marketing. Integrate marcom programs with messaging and positioning, product marketing and demand generation initiatives. Develop rolling quarterly press plan and align with product releases and other key milestones.

  • Partner with product, sales and investments on marketing collateral, webinars, white papers, case studies, blog posts and other content marketing. Invest time with Sponsors, Investors and other go-to-market partners to understand CrowdStreet’s offering and use cases. Build out robust Sponsor and Investor base of references.

  • Recruit, mentor and lead a high performing, highly collaborative marketing team. Work alongside marketing team members and other functional colleagues to execute marketing programs and author marketing content. Provide meaningful skill and experience develop opportunities for marketing team. Hire and manage an effective network of marketing consultants and vendors (content writers, designers, PR, etc) where needed to supplement marketing team’s skill gap and availability.

  • Facilitate annual and quarterly marketing planning and review with marketing team and executive team. Report on marketing goals, programs and results to executive team and board as needed. Develop and manage marketing budgets, report on marketing programs and expenses, develop and share reporting dashboard with ROI, KPIs and other metrics tied to specific marketing programs.

  • Clearly and effectively manage expectations with the CEO, executive team and marketing team. Establish stretch goals for marketing team and deliver results. Work closely and effectively with the sales team.

What We Must Have

  • Ten plus years or more of marketing experience in Financial Consumer and Marketplace environments, including five years or more in B2C marketing leadership roles with demonstrated track record of driving meaningful and measurable results in a leadership marketing role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or liberal arts; MBA preferred

  • Previous experience in enterprise software or marketplace businesses

  • Strong strategic thinker; ability to assess industry and technology trends, competitors’ positioning and capabilities and customer requirements to develop thoughtful marketing strategy; experience translating marketing strategy into an integrated series of effective marketing programs.

  • Naturally strong communicator, effective one-on-one and in front of larger groups; previous public speaking experience; lucid thinker; intent listener; gifted writer; prior experience authoring marketing or product collateral, leading webinars, interacting and building relations with customers and partners

  • Previous experience directly leading or overseeing execution of effective demand generation programs; effectively define criteria for a ‘qualified’ lead and implement lead nurturing programs incorporating email, nurture campaigns, marketing automation, inside sales and other tactics to produce a steady flow of value leads for a sales team

  • Prior experience hiring and leading capable marketing teams; working with marketers to build their skill base and grow their capabilities; work effectively across an executive team and with remote employees; naturally collaborative and team oriented; willing to roll up sleeves and work alongside team members

  • Comfortable working with numbers, analyzing information, drawing insights from data and incomplete information sets; able to build marketing budgets and marketing dashboards; experienced assessing ROI of marketing programs and taking actions from results

  • Strong business acumen, passionate, energetic, entrepreneurial, curious, comfortable with uncertainty and changing priorities; detailed oriented, hands-on, self-reliant, organized, collaborative, adaptive, productive; ability to hit deadlines and multi-task
